The Microchip Graphics Library is highly modular and can be used with Microchip´s 16-bit and 32-bit microcontrollers. It is free for Microchip customers, easy-to-use and has an open documented interface for driver or controller support. GDD X can be used in two ways

1. As a standalone tool

2. As a plug-in with MPLAB XGDD X as Standalone ToolGDD X can be used as a standalone application. That means, it will not be bundled with MPLAB X IDE and can work independently. In standalone mode, GDD X will generate the code for user designed GDD X project and save it in the project’s directory. The generated code needs to be added manually into an MPLAB X or MPLAB 8 IDE project along with the MLA Graphics Library.GDD X as Plug-in with MPLAB X IDEUsing GDD X as plug-in with MPLAB X IDE is similar to using old GDD with MPLAB 8.
